Accessibility

RSM International Limited is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This statement describes what we have already done to make our website accessible, what we intend to do to improve its accessibility and how we plan to maintain these.

As part of our website development, we are committed to inclusive design. This means that each new component that we make will be built to the highest WCAG standards we can.

For example, you should:

  • Be able to navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • Be able to listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
  • Understand most of the website text as we’ve made it simple as possible

We also aim to test our new designs and products with a broad and diverse range of audiences. If you would like to be involved as a participant, then please contact [email protected]

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

How we test the website

Key components and pages - identified by being templates or having important functionality - have been manually tested against WCAG 2.1 Level A and Level AA success criteria. This is done by a manual inspection of the code, the user-interface, and the use of lightweight test tools such as JAWS screen reader and colour contrast tools.

Once the major structural accessibility issues were identified and fixed, automated testing was conducted on the remaining pages to identify issues unique to other pages.

Feedback and contact information

If you need information on this website in a different format, or if you would like to report a problem that is not listed on this statement, then please get in contact with us by emailing [email protected]. We aim to respond within 5 working days.

Reporting accessibility problems with this website

We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page or think we’re not meeting accessibility requirements, contact: [email protected]

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS)

Non-accessible content

We know that some of the features on our website are not fully accessible. Our new website is still under development and we are undergoing a period of testing and re-testing to confirm as many features as possible are accessible. We aim to complete this development and testing by the end of the year.

Maps

Across our website we have a number of maps. Where there is a map, we have provided a text version of the information. Please visit the Google Help Centre for more information on accessibility in Google Maps

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, and forms published as Word documents.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Pre-recorded audio and video

Some of our older videos do not have captions or transcriptions. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.2.1 (audio-only and video-only pre-recorded), 1.2.2 (captions pre-recorded), 1.2.3 (audio description or media alternative pre-recorded) and 1.2.5 (audio description pre-recorded).  For example, our oral history collection does not have a transcript of the audio.

The accessibility regulations do not apply to recorded videos published before 23 September 2020. When we add new video and audio content, we’ll make sure to include captions or transcriptions.

Live video

Live video streams do not have captions. This does not meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.2.4. We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

Third party content

Where we include third party content or functionality on our website, we are responsible for ensuring it meets accessibility standards. These are systems that we link to, or are embedded into our site. However, we are not responsible for the accessibility of third party platforms or content that is neither funded nor developed by us, or under our control. We are continually reviewing our use of third-party content and have reported accessibility issues to the relevant suppliers.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 9 June 2022. It was last reviewed on 10 June 2022.

As we have over 1000 pages, we tested the components which are used to build each page. We also tested our custom modules and a sample of other pages.
