Investigations and enquiries by the Revenue Commissioners can be stressful, disruptive and expensive. We work closely with our clients to help them navigate and resolve such enquiries.

Our tax investigation team has spent years working at either a senior level within the Revenue Commissioner or engaging with the tax authorities to settle enquiries. We have used our skills for many years to achieve the best results for our clients.

We tailor our services to meet your unique needs and can manage all types of investigations or enquiries. We can handle the investigation for you directly or provide specialist support to your other advisers, including your legal team.

If you have a voluntary disclosure to make, our tax risk and investigation management team can help you to secure the best possible outcome. Our team members use their experience and skills to identify at the outset how an approach to the Irish Revenue Commissioners can best be made.

Through years of experience in dealing with the Revenue Commissioners, we have a deep understanding of the Revenue Audit Code of Practice and relevant legislation, and are well placed to assist you in dealing with enquiries in a timely and cost efficient manner.

Case studies

Revenue audit investigations

RSM Ireland were engaged to represent a client in respect of a Revenue audit investigation in covering all tax heads. We undertook a forensic review of all tax returns, supporting computations and nominal ledger transactions to minimise exposure to interest and penalties.

Forensic analysis of expense claims by public sector officers

We forensically analysed all expense claims made by officers of a public sector body over a two year period to determine breach of relevant legislation and quantify tax liabilities in respect of same. We also provided the client with recommendations for improved policies and procedures and oversaw their implementation.
