Marlène has more than 25 years of experience in corporate governance and compliance, and a long track record at multinational corporations, financial institutions and an external regulator.
Her extensive experience in combining corporate governance and compliance know-how with her expertise in corporate integrity, organizational culture and behavior makes her build bridges and transcend silo thinking. With a keen eye for real root causes and ethical dilemmas, Marlène is a recognized sparring partner and trusted advisor, both in the boardroom and at other organizational levels.
For the NBA, she co-developed the Soft Controls Practice Guide, and co-chairs the Compliance Community. She founded the Behavior & Culture Knowledge Table for the Association of Compliance Professionals (VCO) in 2016.
Marlène holds a degree in Economic Public and Business Law, and a post-graduate degree in Corporate Governance. She holds certificates including as a graduate of the C-Level Program of European Women on Boards and the Supervisory Board training of the Erasmus Governance Institute. She is a member of European Women on Boards and the alumni association of the Erasmus Governance Institute (VCTE).
Marlène regularly speaks at conferences and teaches at various (international) institutes. Research for Erasmus University Rotterdam and NBA resulted in 2 books and more than 30 publications.
