Colin Wilson
Partner - Auckland

Office : Auckland
Biography

Colin Wilson started with RSM New Zealand in 1982 and was appointed a Partner in 1990. Colin’s initial role was that of junior accountant and he distinctly remembers one of his important weekly tasks being that of delivering the heavy backup computer tapes to the bank.

Starting at ground level allowed Colin to develop a solid base of experience in accounting and audit services and after progressing to a senior role within the firm he took some time away to work in London. After two years international experience he returned to the firm as a manager and quickly progressed to the role of partner.

Over the years, Colin has had the opportunity to work with a multitude of clients across many different industries. He has particularly enjoyed assisting clients that are in challenging situations. Colin thrives on applying his balanced view and practical solutions to these clients and finds achieving a favourable outcome especially rewarding.

Having developed an interest in probity services early in his career, Colin is our specialist in that field, currently providing probity services to government organisations and local bodies, as well as being responsible for management of the many clients Trustee Company needs.

In his spare time, Colin is an active member in the community and has acted as treasurer for a variety of charitable and sports associations over the years as well as being a longstanding member, and current treasurer, of the Rotary Club of Parnell. Through this Rotary club, Colin was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship on 1 April 2008.

Colin became a Chartered Accountant in 1986 and is a Member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), a professional association of Chartered Accountants. He also has a Public Practice Certificate through CAANZ.

A balanced view and solution focus ensures Colin’s relationships with all of his clients go beyond just accounting.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
