Our interdisciplinary team can assist you with the issues you have related to ESG. This is regardless of whether you have started your ESG journey or not. As one of Norway’s leading audit and advisory companies, we have the experience and expertise needed to provide you with tailored advice. We believe this is particularly important within ESG, where the size and type of business are decisive for the expectations and regulatory requirements placed on your company.

We are happy to talk to you about how we can assist your business on this journey.

When starting work on developing an ESG strategy, it is essential to carry out an assessment of the company’s stakeholders, to map how far they have come with their ESG work and what kind of demands and expectations they have of you.

With an ESG maturity assessment, we help you to map which regulatory requirements your company is subject to or will be subject to in the future, as well as how prepared your company is to meet these requirements. Furthermore, we will also assess which requirements your stakeholders are affected by, and how this will affect your company indirectly.

In addition to the regulatory requirements, it is also important to consider what kind of expectations your stakeholders have of you due to their own ESG goals.

We can assist you in assessing the level of maturity in your business regarding the various areas within ESG, and thus which areas may require a higher level of maturity.

ESG is becoming increasingly relevant in the M&A lifecycle due to the pressure that has arisen from both investors, legislators, and the society. Taking ESG into account in the company’s strategy and business operations is important to stay relevant, ensure growth and cheap access to capital. It is therefore important for companies entering into an M&A process to have a conscious relationship with ESG in the way they operate will be preferred by investors over a similar company that does not have these qualities.

Therefore, ESG due diligence is increasingly becoming an important part of a transaction process, both for the seller and the buyer. An ESG due diligence for the buyer can be very important to minimize the risk, and for a seller it can be important to ensure the best possible valuation of the company.

RSM’s team of ESG specialists and our M&A Transaction Services team can provide you with the assistance you need – both before and during the transaction process.

With the upcoming Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), sustainability reporting will not only become more widespread among businesses on a purely voluntary basis, but for many also required by law. The Norwegian Transparency Act also entered into force in July 2022, and requires, among other things, that companies must report by the end of June each year.

If you need assistance with preparing your own sustainability report based on work with your ESG strategy, or you need assistance to meet statutory requirements, we have the expertise you need to ensure that you are compliant with all the relevant requirements.

For companies covered by the coming Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), an external third party must provide assurance on information being reported. We can assist with this.

Even if you are not covered by the CSRD, you may want to obtain assurance from an external third party to increase the credibility of your sustainability reporting. Third-party assurance will reduce risk and help you uncover weaknesses in the company's processes and routines for sustainability reporting. In addition, third-party assurance will provide an additional quality stamp that can help attract investors.

If you are interested in getting third-party assurance of your sustainability reporting, contact us. Our team has the required expertise.
