Tax Administrator

We are currently looking for a Tax Administrator for the Johannesburg office. This role falls within the Tax Department and reports to the Tax Directors. 

Below is a guideline of the role and responsibilities, qualifications and requirements.  

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITY

The role includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Attend to all correspondence with taxpayers regarding final sign off on provisional tax forms as well as tax return packs;
  • Attend to filing of provisional and annual tax returns to SARS, either via the GreatSoft application or directly via SARS eFiling;
  • Maintaining control lists regarding status of client provisional or annual tax returns to manage status of workflow, and to identify instances where follow up to client is necessary;
  • Attend to electronic filing of signed forms from clients, together with proof of payment, in client specific data folders;
  • Attending to the general maintenance of the GreatSoft application to ensure that any revisions or updates linked to client matters, for tax purposes, are in order;
  • Attending to update of individual client personal details in e-filing on RAV01, if required;
  • Set up of meetings with SARS for various requirements & upload of documentation on the SARS on-line tool;
  • Attend to the administration of mails sent to the eFiling mail address so as to ensure that SARS notifications are shared to the appropriate parties;
  • Attend to the download of client correspondence and information from SARS eFiling for further attention by the tax team members;
  • Attend to circulating the daily GreatSoft SARS correspondence information mail;
  • Preparation of GreatSoft control lists prior to deadlines;
  • Attending to the time sheet recording of the senior tax directors in the Johannesburg office;
  • Attending to new client take on processes, including but not limited to engagement letters, manage sign off on documents using electronic signing app;
  • Attending to correspondence with SARS call centre to follow up on status of outstanding matters;
  • Maintaining register of selected client matters being addressed with SARS, monitoring due dates for escalation or follow-up procedures;
  • Attending to requests from the directors to address review and updates of control lists or related details on a needs basis;
  • Attend to any other related requests from the directors, as they arise.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in a business or finance related field 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good organisation and administrative skills
  • Good Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks at the same time
  • Suitable home office environment to promote a productive work experience when working from home, with stable internet and backup power. Noted that if there are any difficulties encountered in the home office, attendance at the office would be necessary
  • Ability to work extended hours when required, such as over tax filing deadlines
  • Experience with Greatsoft would be advantageous
  • Experience with SARS eFiling
  • Previous work exposure in a tax administration environment is essential
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications is required, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and SharePoint.
