Joanna Lam

Joanna has over 25 years of tax advisory experience, with a focus on Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Singapore. She began her career in Hong Kong profits tax before expanding into transfer pricing and international tax. She has advised clients across Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Guangdong, gaining deep expertise in regional tax regimes and cross-border planning.

Her experience spans a wide range of tax advisory services, including international tax planning, transfer pricing compliance, and outbound investment strategies for Chinese enterprises. Joanna works closely with multinational corporations, listed entities, and emerging businesses to design practical, tax-compliant operational models that support cross-border growth and expansion.

Joanna has also been actively involved in transfer pricing controversy and dispute resolution matters, including advance pricing agreements (APA). She was part of the engagement teams for several landmark APA cases, including China’s first bilateral APA with Japan, a bilateral APA between Hong Kong and China, and a China national APA. She has also supported clients through tax field audit cases in Hong Kong, helping them navigate complex interactions with tax authorities. 

Her sector experience includes consumer products, life sciences, logistics, shipping, manufacturing, real estate, and telecommunications, media and technology (TMT). Before joining the Firm in 2020, Joanna held senior roles at two Big 4 firms in Hong Kong and China, building strong client and tax authority relationships. She is dedicated to helping international businesses achieve their global business objectives.
