ABOUT ICHWAN

Current role description

Ichwan is a Managing Partner and Head of Tax in RSM Indonesia with more than 25 years of experience. Ichwan spent most of his career with the Big Four public accounting firm and also experienced in the largest oil and gas listed company in IDX in 2012-2015.

Current service skills and experience

Ichwan has been providing tax advisory to a wide range of multinational and domestic companies. Ichwan experienced in a range of international tax issues, including tax treaties, international transfer pricing, tax structuring and international tax planning.

Ichwan is the engagement partner for some leading international clients about tax advisory, restructuring, tax disputes, and other strategic advice. Ichwan led the global tax re-structuring project of some high-profile multinational companies. He led some high-profile Merger and Acquisitions in various sectors with primary services of Due Diligence, Tax Structuring, and Sales and Purchase Agreement drafting and negotiation.

Current sector or industry expertise

Ichwan is the engagement partner for leading international oil and gas, mining, and other related energy clients about tax advisory, restructuring, tax disputes, and other strategic advice for more than 10 years. Ichwan led the global restructuring project of some energy companies' operation intending to achieve the most efficient tax structure for dividend distribution, financing, operation, and exit strategy. He leads some high-profile M&As for Indonesian energy companies in various region. Ichwan wrote some internal and external publication in the energy sector, especially oil and gas, and mining subjects.

Ichwan is also the lead engagement partner of digital and telecom companies. He represents leading digital companies in some M&As, tax disputes, and tax structuring. He published some articles and spoke in various international tax seminar on cross border digital tax issues post-implementation of Base Erosion and Profit Shifting.

Ichwan is recognized as one of Indonesia's leading tax adviser in the energy sectors. He is not the only master in tax regulation, but he understands the business process due to his past position in a top tax key position. He provides advice on complex tax issues taking into consideration not only tax regulations but also business and practical considerations. His energy client portfolios include several high-profile oil and gas, and mining companies both local and MNCs.

Ichwan has been applying this approach to also his non-energy sector clients. To provide thorough advice, we must first understand the industry so that the advice provided will cover tax solution based on industry and practical consideration.
