On 26 April, 2025, Central Government launched guidelines and an online portal for the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) Initiative, seen as a step toward bolstering electronics production in India, aims to attract large-scale investments, boost domestic manufacturing, and enhance the country’s integration into global value chains.

The scheme has been introduced for identified target segments such as Sub-assemblies, Bare components, Supply chain ecosystem and Capital equipment etc. With an expected tenure of six years, starting from FY 2025-26 to FY 2031-32, the ECMS offers differentiated fiscal incentives and supports the entire supply chain, from component manufacturing to capital equipment. The scheme has been designed with a focus on ease of business and clear guidelines, ensuring seamless implementation and wide participation from industry stakeholders.

With the ECMS in place, India is poised to accelerate its growth in the global electronics manufacturing landscape. The scheme’s holistic approach, combined with incentives for innovation, quality, and job creation, is set to create a thriving electronics ecosystem, driving economic growth and technological advancements across multiple industries.
