The Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Act, 2026 (‘TOLA Act, 2026’) replaces the Income-tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, while incorporating certain additional taxation measures considered necessary following further policy assessment. The amendments have been introduced against the backdrop of evolving geopolitical developments, disruptions in international trade and supply chains and stakeholder representations. The measures are aimed at mitigating the impact of external economic pressures, supporting identified sectors, facilitating ease of doing business and providing greater tax certainty to domestic as well as foreign investors.
