RSM International is pleased to share the publication of its second Measuring our Environmental Impact report.
As the impacts of climate change become increasingly visible, accurate carbon measurement and decisive action are more important than ever. Between May and October 2024, RSM conducted its second global carbon footprint assessment, focusing on the most material categories for our profession:
- Scope 1: Direct emissions from fuels and refrigerants
- Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased electricity
- Key Scope 3 items: Upstream energy, business travel, and employee commuting
The assessment estimated RSM’s total emissions at 120,402 tCO₂e—equivalent to the annual emissions of around 13,800 European citizens. The majority stemmed from Scope 3 activities, with employee commuting (33%), business travel (26%), and office electricity (23%) as the largest contributors.
RSM remains committed to advancing sustainability maturity across our global network and supporting firms in identifying opportunities for emissions reduction. To further this work, a global committee will be convened as part of the 2024 measurement program, with a focus on broadening the reporting scope.
This initiative reflects RSM’s long-term commitment to responsible business practices and to leading by example on climate action.
