Once again, RSM Community Outreach, an internal committee at RSM Puerto Rico dedicated to civil and community service, organized a back-to-school initiative to help needy kids start the new school year with brand-new backpacks full of school supplies.  This year’s recipients were the children of Forjando un Nuevo Comienzo, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services to former inmates, single mothers and their children, victims of abuse, school dropouts, and the homeless, among others.  They also provide tutoring during the school year and summer camp.  Its founder Moraima Oyola, has received numerous awards for her role as a leader in community engagement, such as the Mother of Achievement Award (by American Mothers, Inc.), the Mujer Award (by the National Hispana Leadership Institute), the Latina Leader Award (by the Image Foundation) and the Exemplary Life Award by Dr. Antonia Coello Novello.

RSM employees donated over 40 backpacks for students from Pre-Kinder to 12th grade.  The children served by this foundation have been through tough times at their young age, and RSM employees were more than proud to be able to help put a smile on their faces.  Meeting the volunteers, the children and their families was heartwarming for RSM employees, who will never forget the feeling of happiness when helping others, aside, of course, from  being able to meet Spiderman and Wonder Woman!

We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.

RSM is proud to afford the children of Forjando un Nuevo Comienzo with The Power of Being Understood.
