While most families throughout the world took down their Christmas ornaments shortly after December 25th, in Puerto Rico we’re just getting started.  As is the local custom, this year RSM Community Outreach committee celebrated the extra 12 days of Christmas (up to Three Kings Day) with a  toy drive for Hogar del Niño Ave Maria and the Asociación de Espina Bífida e Hidrocefalia de Puerto Rico.  As usual, they received the uncompromising support of all RSM employees.

Thanks to everyone’s contributions and support, the committee succeeded in providing gifts for over 30 children who are in desperate need of love and support (and more toys!).

The Hogar del Niño Ave María shelters children who have been removed from their homes by the Department of the Family while they wait for a permanent home.  They currently house 8 kids of up to 4 years of age.

The Asociación de Espina Bífida e Hidrocefalia de Puerto Rico currently helps 24 kids between 8 months and 15 years of age, providing social services, therapy, training, and financial aid for the acquisition of orthopedic equipment, support for pregnant women, and educational workshops among others.

As the photos suggest, the happiness on the children’s faces is worth a thousand words.  What is also evident is the pride that everyone at RSM Puerto Rico feels when engaging with communities in need, especially those dedicated to the well-being of our children.   Someone once said, “All children need is a little help, a little hope, and someone who believes in them.”   These children are lucky to have these associations that care enough to provide them with help, hope, and especially, lots of love.

Such is The Power of Being Understood
