Hurricanes Irma and María have detrimentally impacted the lives of all of the 3.5 million residents of Puerto Rico.  Uniting under the hashtag #PuertoRicoSeLevanta, individuals and organizations island wide have mobilized and orchestrated numerous initiatives in order to facilitate aid to those communities that are suffering the most.

RSM Community Outreach, an internal committee at RSM Puerto Rico dedicated to civil and community service, has also championed this cause.  Leaning on the generosity of the RSM family, members of the committee collected groceries, water, juice and other items of urgent need.  Along with staff from La Fondita de Jesús, a local non-profit organization serving the homeless since 1985, members of the U.S. Coast Guard, and other groups of eager volunteers, they delivered provisions to families in the central towns of Comerío and Utuado.  The team met many people in need, yet grateful to be remembered by others.

There is still so much to do.  Puerto Rican families continue to struggle without electricity, telecommunications or running water, which has made it very difficult to feed and clothe their loved ones.  Many have lost their jobs or simply cannot travel to obtain much-needed supplies, due to roads that have become inaccessible and collapsed bridges.  This is just a small part of a very big picture.  It will take time to heal and fully bring Puerto Rico back to life.  At RSM Puerto Rico, we are committed to continue serving and doing our part to help our communities, thus demonstrating The Power of Being Understood.
