What did you do before coming to RSM Eastern Africa?

Before joining RSM Eastern Africa, I was a full-time student. My academic journey was deeply engaging and shaped the foundation of who I am today. It wasn’t just about sitting in lecture halls; it was about building discipline, curiosity, and resilience. I immersed myself in my studies, group work, and research projects, all of which prepared me for the professional environment. I also took part in student leadership initiatives, volunteer work, and mentorship programs that honed my communication and interpersonal skills. Though I was still learning the theory, I was eager to apply it in real-world settings, and RSM offered just that opportunity.

If you could go back to your first day here, what advice would you give yourself?

If I could have a conversation with myself on my first day at RSM Eastern Africa, I would say: "Take a deep breath, and don’t be afraid to be a beginner." I’d remind myself that it’s okay not to have all the answers on day one. Challenges will come, and that’s part of the growth process. I would advise myself to let go of self-doubt and the urge to be perfect, and instead focus on being open, curious, and adaptable. I’d also emphasize the importance of asking questions early on, building relationships with colleagues, and trusting that everything I bring to the table matters. Confidence is built with consistency, so start strong and stay the course.

What is it like working for RSM Eastern Africa?

Working at RSM Eastern Africa has been nothing short of transformational. It's a vibrant space that strikes the right balance between structure and creativity.

The culture is dynamic. Each day presents a new challenge, a new learning curve, or an unexpected opportunity to grow. From collaborating with talented professionals to being entrusted with meaningful responsibilities, I feel valued and empowered. But beyond the work, there’s a sense of community.

Whether it's mentorship from seniors, camaraderie with peers, or support from leadership, I always feel like I belong. RSM isn’t just a workplace. It’s a place of discovery where I’m continuously becoming a better version of myself.

What RSM value resonates most with you and why?

The RSM value that resonates with me most is integrity. To me, integrity is about doing what’s right, even when no one is watching. It’s the quiet force behind accountability, trust, and professionalism. Integrity shows up in the small details. Honouring deadlines, giving honest feedback, and treating others with respect. It reminds me that every task I take on, no matter how small, reflects on me and the firm. Upholding integrity means standing by your word, being transparent in your actions, and holding yourself to a standard of excellence. It’s a guiding principle I strive to live by both at work and in my personal life.

What future trend or idea excites you most in your field?

One of the most exciting trends in the professional services industry, especially in audit and accounting, is the rapid integration of technology and data analytics. The way we approach numbers is evolving from traditional audits to real-time, data-driven insights. Tools like AI, cloud-based systems, and visualization dashboards are streamlining operations, improving accuracy, and enabling deeper strategic thinking. This shift not only enhances efficiency but also adds real value to client engagements. It’s exciting to be part of a future where innovation and human intelligence work hand in hand to transform the way we deliver solutions. I look forward to upskilling and embracing these changes as they shape the profession.

Who are you outside RSM?

Outside RSM, I live life with a vibrant and adventurous spirit. I’m a social soul who values good company and hearty laughter. My weekends are often filled with conversations that stretch into the night with close friends. I’m also an avid runner, and nothing clears my mind like jogging through the vibrant streets of Kampala with music pumping through my earbuds and the sun setting in the distance. I'm a football enthusiast, the kind who plays like every match is a World Cup final, even if it’s just a casual game with friends. And when I’m not on the move, I’m a self-proclaimed foodie always on the lookout for the next hidden gem of a restaurant. These passions keep me energized and constantly inspired.

If you had a superpower at work, what would it be?

If I could choose a workplace superpower, it would be the ability to pause time. Imagine the possibilities. Hitting every deadline with ease, reviewing every detail without rushing, and even sneaking in a peaceful coffee break amidst tight schedules. It would give me the freedom to approach tasks with calm precision, allowing quality and creativity to shine without the usual time pressure. In a fast-paced environment, this superpower would be the ultimate tool for productivity and balance.

What’s something you’re passionate about that others might not know?

Something that might surprise people is how passionate I am about exploring the city of Kampala on foot. For me, walking isn’t just a means of getting from one place to another. It’s a whole experience. It allows me to soak in the city’s culture, observe daily life, and stumble upon places I’d never notice otherwise. From street food vendors to quiet pockets of greenery, each walk is a small adventure. It’s my personal time to reset and reconnect with my environment. This simple activity brings me clarity and a deeper appreciation for the world around me.
