What did you do before coming to RSM Eastern Africa?
I was immersed in the world of insurance, working as a claims officer. My role revolved around reviewing insurance claims with the precision of a race timer at the finish line. Every document had to be correct, every figure reconciled, and every process followed to the letter. I spent my days vouching claims, verifying their accuracy, confirming the services provided, and ensuring all the necessary reports were complete.
This role was an exercise in discipline, critical thinking, and attention to detail. Looking back, it was the perfect training ground for my transition into audit. It instilled in me a strong appreciation for accuracy, timeliness, and maintaining processes that are squeaky clean, skills that have become second nature in my work today.
What about this job and company appealed to you?
I wanted a role that would challenge me, keep me learning, and push me outside my comfort zone. I was drawn to a career in audit because it combines technical expertise, problem-solving, and the opportunity to see the bigger financial picture behind different organizations.
RSM appealed to me instantly because it checked every box I was looking for: a fast-paced environment, opportunities for continuous professional growth, and the chance to work with a wide range of clients from different industries and backgrounds. It’s like signing up for a marathon where every mile teaches you something new and every finish line is just the starting point for the next challenge.
How would you explain to your friends and family what working here is like?
I’d say it is like joining a team of marathon runners , everyone’s moving towards the same goal, encouraging each other, and celebrating every milestone along the way. The pace is energetic and engaging, and no two days feel the same.
There’s a healthy balance of challenge and support. You’re constantly learning whether it’s mastering a new audit standard, exploring an unfamiliar industry, or refining your approach to problem-solving. The people here make a huge difference; they are approachable, collaborative, and genuinely invested in helping each other grow.
We work hard, but there’s also room for laughter and light moments that keep the day enjoyable. Working at RSM Eastern Africa has been nothing short of transformational. It's a vibrant space that strikes the right balance between structure and creativity.
What RSM value resonates most with you and why?
For me, Integrity stands out because in audit, trust is the cornerstone of our profession. Clients rely on us to be honest, transparent, and consistent in our actions. Upholding Integrity means delivering work that can be relied upon without question, ensuring that our advice and findings are both accurate and ethical.
There is an unspoken rule in running: keep your pace without cutting corners. The goal isn’t just to reach the finish line, but to get there knowing you’ve given your best, played fair, and upheld your own standards. Integrity is about consistency in actions and decisions.
What are you looking forward to doing in this role?
I am looking forward to deepening my skills and truly getting under the skin of different financial systems. Every engagement is an opportunity to sharpen my analytical thinking, improve my technical knowledge, and develop the ability to see patterns and insights hidden in the numbers.
I'm also excited about building stronger client relationships, understanding their businesses more holistically, and delivering high-quality audits that add real value. Over time, I hope to take on more complex assignments, mentor others, and contribute meaningfully to my team’s success.
Who are you outside RSM?
I am a daughter, sister, and friend who values life’s simple pleasures. Most Saturday mornings begin with a jog — my personal ritual to clear my mind, stay active, and enjoy fresh air before the day’s demands set in.
I also find joy in cooking, experimenting with new recipes, and crocheting cozy pieces. These hobbies provide balance, offering a creative outlet and a welcome contrast to the structured nature of audit. There is a unique satisfaction in turning time and effort into something tangible.
What is a fun fact about you that may surprise people?
A fun fact? I have a standing date with my jogging shoes every Saturday morning. I am not training for a marathon yet, I run simply because it gives me clarity, lifts my mood, and starts my week on the right note. There is something about the rhythm of running that helps me think more clearly and approach problems with a calmer perspective.
That said, who knows what the future holds? Maybe one day I will be collecting that marathon medal after all!
