Zafeerah is a Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) , she started her career in with EY Mauritius where she worked for more than 10 years. She then joined RSM Mauritius as a Senior Manager, with the responsibility to manage the Advisory department. She played a key role in establishing the appropriate procedures and controls for the effective and efficient operation of the department.

She has led a number of assignments including internal audits, risk management exercise, internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), documentation of procedure manuals, board assessments, fraud/special investigations, compliance reviews (AML/CFT, SOX) for listed companies and large conglomerates in diverse sectors in Mauritius, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Madagascar, Maldives and South Africa. The sectors she worked on includes manufacturing, agriculture, hospitality, real estate, healthcare, oil and gas, banking, telecommunication, media, gambling and financial services sectors.

She was the team leader on a fraud investigation assignments of two renowned banks in Mauritius. The review was done with the utmost confidentiality and included review/scrutiny of documentations, interview of board members. The report was submitted to the Governor of bank of Mauritius.
Zafeerah was the team leader on the ICFR audit for the number one reputable oil and gas company in Abu Dhabi, for a financial institution (bank) in Saudi Arabia and two listed large conglomerates in Canada. The assessment was performed to comply with the COSO Integrated Internal Controls Framework, through assessing the system of internal controls in place.

Zafeerah is an experienced internal audit and risk management professional with extensive exposure across multiple industries and geographies. She has proven expertise in leading internal audits, enterprise risk management, governance reviews, ICFR audits, compliance reviews, fraud investigations, and business process improvements. She is well skilled in developing risk and control frameworks, drafting governance charters, documenting policies and procedures, and driving process optimisation. 
She is recognised for delivering high-quality reports to Boards and Audit Committees, with strong leadership in managing cross-functional teams and complex assignments in both listed companies and regulated sectors.
