THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a passionate Tax Consulting Semi-Senior to assist in the delivery of tax consulting assignments for our clients. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of tax, and will be eager to embrace the RSM culture and embody our values in everything he/she does.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in a business related or legal field  (minimum Upper Second)
  • CPA/ACCA qualification
  • Registered tax consultant (optional)
  • Certifications or experience in IT or Data Analytics will be an added advantage

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years of experience in tax at a busy legal or professional services firm
  • Worked in a multicultural environment

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keeping abreast of changes in tax legislation including developments in global and regional taxation, double tax agreements, transfer pricing and related tax issues
  • Assisting the Tax Senior or Tax Manager in providing tax opinions to clients in areas of direct and indirect taxation including but not limited to income tax, value added tax, customs and excise 
  • Assisting the Tax Senior or Tax Manager in tax structuring engagements
  • Assisting in the handling of tax audits and investigations, and objections and appeals arising therefrom under the supervision of the Tax Senior or Tax Manager
  • Assisting in handling tax due diligence and tax health check engagements under the supervision of the Tax Senior or Tax Manager
  • Assisting the Tax Senior or Tax Manager in following up with the revenue authority on client issues including clients’ tax status
  • Supervising the field team and ensuring that they are carrying out their work in accordance with the plan
  • Assisting the Tax Manager in the development of tax publications/bulletins/newsletters and organising client seminars
     

OUTCOMES

  • Work as an effective team member to complete assigned tasks within the budgeted time and communicating the engagement progress to the Tax Senior or Tax Manager on a daily basis
  • Ensuring that review notes on allocated sections are resolved within 24 hours or such other time as agreed with the Tax Manager
  • Identifying engagement issues and communicating these, as they arise, ensuring that complex issues are discussed and resolved with the Tax Manager or Director
  • Effectively documenting work and drafting reports to the required performance standards 
  • Responding to client correspondence/queries within 24 hours and ensuring the clients are updated on the engagement progress
  • Supervising Tax Associates assigned to engagements, providing guidance and overall review of deliverables and working papers
  • Actively developing technical skills through formal training and complying with the firm’s CPD requirements
  • Understanding the procedures followed by the revenue authority and creating rapport with the revenue authority
  • Developing working relationships with the client
