The Opportunity

This is more than a tax compliance role. As our Tax Senior, you will play a key role in RSM Tanzania's tax practice, helping clients navigate complex tax regulations while maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence, compliance, and client service. You will work closely with partners, managers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver tailored tax solutions, manage client relationships, and contribute to a diverse portfolio of engagements across a wide range of industries.

We are looking for a Tax Senior who combines strong technical tax knowledge with analytical thinking, commercial awareness, and a proactive mindset; someone who not only delivers high-quality tax compliance and advisory services but also identifies risks, uncovers planning opportunities, and drives continuous improvement in processes and client outcomes. Qualifications and Experience

To qualify, you must possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
  • Professional qualification or ongoing studies toward CPA, ACCA, ADIT or a related tax qualification will be an added advantage.
  • At least three to five years of relevant experience in tax compliance, tax advisory or tax consulting.
  • Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws and regulations, including corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, PAYE and other statutory obligations.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing tax computations, tax returns and supporting schedules.
  • Practical experience in handling TRA audits, tax assessments, objections and other tax dispute matters.
  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret tax legislation and communicate technical matters clearly to clients and colleagues.
  • Good report-writing, presentation and client-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments within agreed deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to supervise junior team members, review their work and provide practical guidance.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities and Outcomes

  • Maintain a minimum annual productivity target of 75%.
  • Deliver assigned engagements within budgeted timelines while providing timely progress updates to the Tax Senior or Manager.
  • Prepare high-quality, well-documented workpapers in accordance with firm standards and tax engagement requirements.
  • Address and clear review notes within agreed timelines, ensuring efficient completion of assignments.
  • Identify, communicate, and escalate engagement risks, issues, and opportunities to the Tax Manager as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development through on-the-job learning, technical training, and compliance with CPD requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients through effective communication and exceptional service delivery.
