The Opportunity
This is more than a tax compliance role. As our Tax Associate, you will be a key contributor to RSM Tanzania’s tax practice, helping clients navigate complex tax regulations while ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and advisory excellence. You will work closely with experienced tax professionals and collaborate across service lines, gaining exposure to a diverse portfolio of clients, industries, and tax matters from day one.

Qualifications and Experience
To qualify, you must possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
- Professional qualification or ongoing studies toward CPA, ACCA, ADIT or a related tax qualification will be an added advantage.
- At least one to three years of relevant experience in tax compliance, tax advisory, accounting or tax consulting.
- Good understanding of Tanzanian tax laws and regulations, including corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, PAYE and other statutory obligations.
- Experience in preparing tax computations, tax returns, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Basic practical exposure to TRA audits, tax assessments, objections and other tax compliance or dispute matters will be an added advantage.
- Good analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to research and interpret tax legislation and apply it to practical client matters.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional correspondence and reports.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work on multiple assignments within agreed deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take guidance from senior team members.
- Willingness to learn, develop technical tax knowledge and take responsibility for assigned tasks.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities and Outcomes
- Maintain a minimum annual productivity target of 75%.
- Deliver assigned engagements within budgeted timelines while providing timely progress updates to the Tax Senior or Manager.
- Prepare high-quality, well-documented workpapers in accordance with firm standards and tax engagement requirements.
- Address and clear review notes within agreed timelines, ensuring efficient completion of assignments.
- Identify, communicate, and escalate engagement risks, issues, and opportunities to the Tax Manager as appropriate.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development through on-the-job learning, technical training, and compliance with CPD requirements.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients through effective communication and exceptional service delivery.
