My journey to becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA Zambia) has been defined by patience, resilience, and faith.

After completing the ZICA Licentiate qualification at Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Commerce, I was converted to a CA student and advised to sit for the Advisory papers. In 2020, I successfully completed the CA Zambia Advisory Professional level. This was a major milestone in my career.

The next step was to fulfill the three-year mandatory practical experience requirement. Confident in the six years of accounting experience that accumulated during my qualification time, I submitted my CV to ZICA seeking exemption from the post qualification experience requirement. After review, I was informed that I still needed to complete the full three years of training. Initially, this news was disappointing, but it became a turning point in my journey.

As I contemplated my next steps, I carefully considered how to complete the three years of training in a way that would not only allow me to meet the requirement but also help me develop real expertise. I was drawn to RSM Zambia for its strong reputation in training and developing young professionals, a decision that proved to be invaluable. In February 2022, I joined RSM Zambia Chartered Accountants as an Audit Trainee, and within six months, I was promoted to Audit Associate I, marking my first step up the professional ladder within the firm.

RSM Zambia has been more than just a place to train. It has been a place to grow. Surrounded by brilliant and hardworking professionals, I have been constantly challenged, inspired, and encouraged to expand both my knowledge and character. From Audit Associate I to Audit Associate III, each stage taught me valuable lessons that have shaped the professional I am today.

In 2025, after completing my three years of practical experience, I was officially awarded the CA Zambia designation. This achievement is not just a title. It is a reminder to continually strive for excellence and uphold the highest standards in all I do. The recognition I had worked so hard for was finally reflected in my name, and it felt incredibly rewarding.

Today, I continue to work at RSM Zambia in an environment that values growth, learning, and mentorship. Every day brings new opportunities to develop professionally and personally. I look forward to mentoring other CA graduates as they begin their journeys and remain committed to advancing toward my goal of becoming a ZICA Fellow. Surrounded by the right people, I know I am on the right path.
