Metaverse maybe a moneymaker for enterprises by 2027

Gartner predicts that over 40% of large enterprises worldwide will leverage Web3, AR cloud, and digital twins in metaverse-based projects to increase their revenue by 2027. A complete metaverse is expected to be device-independent and evolve as a single and broadly accessible platform like the web. Gartner also predicts that more than half of the global population will be daily active users of multiple superapps in five years.

ICO warns against using biometrics for ‘emotional analysis’

The U.K. Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has warned organizations against using biometric technologies to conduct emotion analysis as the developments in the biometrics and emotion AI market are immature. Facial recognition and emotion analysis technologies are often powered by AI algorithms and rely on an array of personal and biometric data to sense, learn about and interact with human emotional life. However, ICO is concerned that incorrect analysis of data could result in inaccurate assumptions and judgments about a person and lead to discrimination.

The human factor of cybersecurity: what's putting you at risk

Since post-pandemic cyber-attacks are on the rise, it is mandatory for any organization continuously strengthen its cybersecurity posture. Most cybersecurity strategies focus on automated protection and mitigation, however, with the rise of social engineering attacks, phishing-as-a-service and malware infections, every individual has a role to play in cybersecurity and protecting ourselves from cybercriminals. Enterprises can utilize AI in employee training and employ user and entity behavior analytics (UEBA) to recognize normal user behaviors and spot suspicious activities.

How the software supply chain security is threatened by hackers

A software supply chain attack occurs when a threat actor infiltrates downstream users’ systems by compromising a software vendor’s legitimate app with a changed source code. The risks associated with vulnerable software, including leaking credentials, corruption of data, and installation of malware, have never been higher due to the mass reuse of open-source components and the increased access to sensitive data by the supplier. As traditional security methods cannot fully address the grey areas of software supply chains, organizations are introducing security into all stages of the development lifecycle.
