RSM Mozambique is recruiting a Southern Africa Regional Chief Information Officer (CIO) for a client in the banking sector based in Maputo, for immediate integration.

 

Position: Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Location:  Southern Africa (Maputo, Johannesburg, Windhoek, Lusaka or Luanda)

 

Responsibilities:

» Develop and communicate the IT vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Southern Africa region in alignment with the Bank’s overall business objectives;

» Lead the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies to drive innovation, improve customer experiences, and gain competitive advantage;

» Collaborate with executive management to define IT investment priorities and allocate resources effectively to support business growth;

» Provide leadership and guidance to the regional IT team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement;

» Recruit, develop, and retain top talent, ensuring that the team possesses the skills and expertise required to deliver on strategic objectives;

» Promote a culture of innovation and creativity, encouraging team members to explore new ideas and approaches to solving business challenges;

» Drive the Bank’s digital transformation agenda in Southern Africa, leveraging technology to enhance products, services, and customer experiences;

» Champion the use of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to derive insights, optimize operations, and drive business growth;

» Collaborate with business units to identify opportunities for process automation, operational efficiency improvements, and revenue generation through digital channels;

» Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including business leaders, risk and compliance teams, and other functional areas, to understand their needs and priorities;

» Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and industry organizations to stay abreast of technology trends, regulatory changes, and best practices;

» Represent the Bank in industry forums, conferences, and community events, enhancing the Bank’s reputation as a leader in technology innovation and financial services;

» Work closely with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to establish and maintain robust governance processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards;

» Implement controls and security measures to protect the Bank’s information assets and mitigate cybersecurity risks;

» Monitor and report on IT performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and driving continuous enhancement of IT processes and controls.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

» Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred;

» Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in IT leadership roles, with at least 5 years of experience in banking or financial services industry;

» Proven track record of leading digital transformation initiatives, delivering innovative technology solutions, and driving business results;

» Strong strategic planning, budgeting, and project management skills, with the ability to align technology investments with business objectives;

» Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels;

» Knowledge of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and best practices in IT governance, risk management, and cybersecurity;

» Demonstrated leadership qualities, including integrity, resilience, and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.
