Tax Compliance & Advisory Services
Paying the right amount of tax, with confidence
Whatever type of organization you oversee, whether it is a start-up or a global operation, it is crucial that you pay the right amount of tax. Being aware of the current rules and legislation around corporate tax in the country in which you operate will help ensure you are paying the correct amount.
Running a business means you have a lot to consider, and keeping up to date with changes to the regulations around taxes that affect business operations can be difficult and time-consuming. That's why it can be beneficial to seek tax advice from those who are experts in the field.
At RSM, we have a team of highly knowledgeable and experienced United Arab Emirates (UAE) tax law experts with in-depth, specialized knowledge of current legislation. Our team has experience providing specialized tax services for a range of organizations in the region, with proven capabilities in solving tax issues in the UAE.
The UAE Tax Landscape, at a Glance
Taxation in the UAE has changed significantly in recent years. Our tax advisory services will ensure your organization remains compliant — but being aware of the changes on a basic level will make it easier for your organization to follow the latest guidelines.
Income Tax
Not levied against individuals in the UAE.
Excise Tax
Applied against particular goods that are harmful to humans or the environment.
Value Added Tax
Effective since 2018. Businesses exceeding the registration threshold charge VAT at 5% on taxable transactions.
Corporate Tax
Once limited to oil companies and foreign banks, now has an expanded scope under Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022.
Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022 on the Taxation of Corporations and Businesses introduced UAE Corporate Tax, administered by the Federal Tax Authority (FTA). The law applies for financial years starting on or after 1 June 2023, with a standard Corporate Tax rate of 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000 (about USD 102,000). The law also sets transfer pricing compliance requirements: transactions between “related parties” and “connected persons” must meet the arm’s length principle under the OECD Guidelines.
Economic Substance Regulations (ESR), introduced in 2019, no longer apply for financial years ending after 31 December 2022 (Cabinet Decision No. 98 of 2024). Substance is now assessed under the Corporate Tax regime — for example, for Qualifying Free Zone Persons.
