RSM Mozambique is recruiting a Capital Projects Superintendent for a client based in Maputo/Cabo Delgado - Balama, for immediate integration.

Position: Capital Projects Superintendent

Location:  Maputo/Cabo Delgado - Balama

 

Responsibilities:

 

⇒  Responsible for the design, planning and execution of the Balama tailings storage facility (TSF);

⇒  Ensure safe and timely delivery of the Balama TSF Project including geotechnical investigation, foundation design, design and evaluation of mine water/wastewater management strategies, hazard and risk assessments, project monitoring and control, mine planning and financial assessments, construction management and quality assurance;

⇒  Providing expert/expert advice for technical issues related to the Balama TSF project;

Lead the Balama TSF project Steering Committee and provide regular reports and technical guidance to the TSF;

⇒  Develop strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including engineering consultants and civil contractors;

⇒  Manage key contractors, including responsibility for safety performance, project schedule, quality and budget;

⇒  Conduct independent technical reviews of engineering reports and projects;

⇒  Establish systematic and disciplined daily management practices in which the correct actions are assigned;

⇒  Ensure compliance with all regulatory / licence commitments and obligations applicable relating to the Balama TSF;

⇒  Develop and implement systems and measures that appropriately assess the metrics of Balama's operational performance;

⇒  Contribute to Executive Committee (ExCo) reports as required.

Qualifications and Professional Experience:

 

⇒  Higher level qualifications in a relevant discipline;

⇒ Significant experience (10 years onward) in front-line leadership within the resource industry;

⇒  Strong technical knowledge across the entire TSF project life cycle; feasibility and design approvals, planning, engineering, procurement, construction management, operations mining and closure/rehabilitation.

 

Skills and Competencies:

 

⇒  Communication skills (taking into account the various levels of teams to be managed); 

⇒  Fluent Portuguese and English;

⇒  Capacity for risk management; 

⇒  Availability to work 4 weeks in Maputo and 4 weeks in Cabo Delgado - Balama.
