Corporate Tax Compliance Officer

We are currently looking for a Corporate Tax Compliance Officer for our Johannesburg office.  Below is a guideline of the role and responsibilities, qualifications and requirements.

Role and responsibilities

  • Attend to the completion of corporate Income Tax returns.
  • Attend to the preparation of Income Tax and Deferred Tax computations, and preparation of working papers to support the tax declarations in the corporate tax return as well as support tax charges processed in the annual financial statements.
  • Attend to review and sign off on assessments assigned to you that have been issued by SARS.
  • Attend to preparation of NOO or ADR dispute documentation and cover letters detailing grounds of objection for all tax types.
  • Follow up and finalisation of disputes as initiated with SARS.
  • Maintain sound administrative control over deadlines for disputes and other SARS submissions to ensure all correspondence addressed within prescribed time frame.
  • Assist in preparation and finalisation of SARS requests for audit or verifications across all tax types.
  • Attend to completion of Dividends tax, Withholding Tax on Interest and Withholding tax on Royalty forms including related declarations where necessary.
  • Assist in resolving all tax related queries of whatever nature.
  • Conduct research and provide formal feedback on matters assigned to you.
  • Correspond at length with clients and internal staff to obtain and relay information.
  • Correspond with SARS at length where required.
  • Assist with analysis and generation of fee notes for billing purposes in respect of certain tax clients.
  • Continue professional education within your areas of responsibility.
  • Present and take part in the in-house training to maintain and share knowledge on current issues.
  • Contribute articles related to tax matters for publishing on various media platforms.
  • Assist with design and implementation of business plan, strategic and overall growth of department.

Qualifications and experience

  • 2-3 years’ corporate tax work experience.
  • B Com degree.
  • Further tax qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Registered Tax Practitioner.
  • Experience in a financial environment would be ideal.
