We are seeking a motivated Graduate/School Leaver/Associate to join our Tax Compliance and Advisory Team at RSM Gibraltar Limited.

A career in tax is more than just becoming a tax adviser, you will be part of the Tax Team, diving into the intricate world of tax laws in Gibraltar applying them into real-life solutions for our clients, mitigate tax risks and navigate the complex landscape of reporting requirements.

In this role, you will support the accurate and timely preparation of tax returns and statutory compliance obligations, developing your technical knowledge on the job. You will work collaboratively within the team under the guidance of the Outsourcing Director and Senior Tax Manager.

 

Responsibilities (Graduate / Associate)

  • Assist with the preparation of Corporate and Personal Tax Returns, including basic reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain client records and track statutory deadlines, escalating issues to senior team members as needed.
  • Support responses to routine tax assessments and enquiries under supervision.
  • Prepare draft correspondence and compile information requests for clients.
  • Support general and cross-border worker applications, including certificate renewals and ongoing compliance requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory filings and internal checklists to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Carry out other administrative and ad-hoc tasks as assigned by management.

 

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Interest in taxation and willingness to learn Gibraltar tax rules and compliance processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence working with numbers.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) is an advantage.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to support senior staff by involvement in business development opportunities, proposals and networking events.

 The ability to look at problems pragmatically, handle issues with diplomacy and attention to detail is a must. The ideal candidates will be self-motivated, have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English and Spanish, and be able to work in an organised and efficient manner.

A legal background, strong report writing skills, a tax qualification, and knowledge of Gibraltar and international tax will be an advantage.

 Responsibilities

  • Review and reconcile Corporate and Personal Tax Returns, identifying and resolving discrepancies prior to submission.
  • Manage a portfolio of tax compliance work, including handling assessments and enquiries, and ensuring timely payment of taxes, penalties, and submissions.
  • Provide advisory support on corporate expenses, tax credits and losses, and employee benefits in kind.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of tax returns, reconciliations, and other statutory filings, ensuring quality control and adherence to internal procedures.
  • Support general and cross-border worker applications, including certificate renewals and ongoing compliance requirements.
  • Proactively communicate statutory deadlines to clients and ensure filing and payment obligations are met.
  • Review the work of junior team members, providing guidance and on-the-job development.t
  • Perform any other tasks as delegated by management

 Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Relevant experience in Gibraltar tax (managerial level candidates will need demonstrable Gibraltar tax experience).
  • Strong tax compliance knowledge with the ability to identify issues, interpret legislation and apply practical solutions.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and strong MS Excel skills.
  • CTA or ADIT qualified, or equivalent.
  • Experience in communicating (written and verbal) with the ITO.
  • Proven experience in client handling and managing a busy portfolio, including managing multiple deadlines and delegation.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop junior team members.
  • Strong analytical and computational skills.
  • Strong letter and report writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication, both written and verbal with an ability to liaise with people at all levels.
  • Ability and confidence to liaise with both internal and external clients.
