Rakesh, an Indian national, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, (ICAI) having qualified in November 2000. Later he has also qualified as "Information Systems Auditor" from the ICAI in June 2002.

Rakesh has accumulated a diversified experience of around 11 years post qualification in the fields of accounting, auditing and management consultancy as well as in Indian Tax laws and Corporate Laws.

In India

After qualifying, Rakesh was admitted as a partner to Hiranandani & Co., one of the leading auditing and tax consultancy firms in Kutch, Gujarat. He was the partner of the firm for 4 years handling a client base of around 100 audit clients and 800 tax returns. During this period, he has been exposed to accounting procedures and practices prevailing in industries as diverse as banking, manufacturing, shipping, transportation, international trade, hotels, construction, distribution and retailing. He as a consultant has reviewed accounting systems and procedures for clients and re-engineered their business processes and systems.

In the 7 years that he was with the Firm, Rakesh guided the firm through a number of long term changes in the areas of computerisation of processes, implementing a permanent filing system and introducing computer software for tax calculations and filing.

In UAE

In January 2005, Rakesh moved to Dubai and joined RSM Dahman (previously known as Dahman & Co.). He is currently the technical partner in-charge of a large portfolio of clients providing internal and external audit services. Rakesh is an expert on the RSM Audit methodology which is based on the International Standards on Auditing and is also responsible for in-house training for the audit methodology and IFRS.

Additionally, Rakesh provides business and advisory services to International clients, with regards to services such as setting up business in the UAE, providing outsourced accounting, payroll and other consultancy services. Rakesh has also been involved with the preparation of accounting policy and procedure manuals and internal audit manuals for major groups of clients and in investigation of frauds. Rakesh is a public speaker and has presented on the topic of 'Occupational Frauds' at the 4th Annual Middle East Internal Auditors Forum organised by Marcus Evans in 2011.

Internally, Rakesh has the responsibility of staff technical training in the fields of IFRS and ISAs. He is also responsible for compliance with the RSM Audit Methodology.

Rakesh has been involved with RSM International's various quality programmes. He attended the RSM Academy in 2007 which is a training ground for Junior Partners and Senior Personnel in firms to develop the future of RSM. He has also been a part of RSM International's Global Inspection Team which inspects RSM member firms for compliance with the RSM Audit methodology.
