Employers applying for Single Permits in Flanders should take note of two practical changes affecting both new and renewal applications: an updated passport-copy requirement and a new Flemish administrative fee.

AT A GLANCE — WHAT IS CHANGING?

1 . Updated passport-copy requirement

Since June 2026, Single Permit application files must include a copy of all pages of the employee's valid international passport. This replaces the previous requirement to submit only the passport identification page.

2. New Flemish administrative fee

For Single Permit applications submitted from 1 September 2026, a Flemish administrative fee of EUR 180 will be due for each new or renewal application. The new fee applies to Single Permit applications only and does not apply to work permit applications.

This fee is separate from the existing federal administrative contribution, which remains payable to the Immigration Office (Dienst Vreemdelingenzaken / Office des Étrangers). Proof of payment of the federal contribution must continue to be uploaded as part of the application.

The Flemish fee will be collected through the online portal (Uniek Loket / Guichet Unique), when the application is submitted. Further practical payment details are expected to be communicated by the Flemish authorities.
