RSM Botswana, a leading professional services firm, invites suitably qualified and experienced auditor to take up a management position in our assurance practice. Our firm provides assurance, tax, and consulting services to a wide variety of clients. Continuous growth in our assurance practice has resulted in the need for an audit manager or assistant audit manager. 

 

Attributes

 

You should have the following attributes to fit in the growing team of our firm. 

» You are a fully qualified Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant in Botswana or eligible to register as such.

» You are highly preferred if you are a citizen of Botswana

» Have experience in IFRS and ISAs as applied in the assurance practice in Botswana.

» At least 3 years of experience in audit and at least two years at a minimum level of supervision where you lead other auditors and possibly manage multiple teams.

» Have excellent people skills.

» Be particular with detail.

» Be able to manage a portfolio of assurance engagements team.

» Have a good client service flair and sales.

 

 

Job description 

 

You should manage a portfolio of assurance engagements assigned to you in support of the audit partners.  Principal activities will be:

 

1. Drawing up work schedules and planning the assignment of audit staff in collaboration and consultation with other managers and partners.

 

2. Supervising audit teams led by audit seniors to ensure effective engagement work in terms of planning fieldwork and finalization including compilation of deliverables.

 

3. Supporting the audit teams by giving technical guidance during the engagement.

 

4. Reviewing the audit working papers of team members thoroughly ensuring that all review comments are attended to before reports issued to clients.

 

5. Supervising the engagement teams to ensure that review comments raised by the engagement partner, engagement quality reviewer, or other experts on the engagements are appropriately addressed before reports are released.

 

6. Ensuring that engagement files are closed and archived within forty-five (45) days of signing of the engagement report.

 

7. Drafting reports and correspondence on behalf of the firm.

 

8. Organizing and carrying out post-delivery evaluation of engagement to pick lessons for future improvement.

 

Manager plays a key role in the firm’s innovation, productivity, cost recovery and learning and development and marketing efforts. Manager will be expected to:

 

1. Develop and propose templates, and methods that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

 

2. Carry out project analysis to determine efficiency and recovery of assurance teams and staff. Follow up cost-overruns and recover additional fees from clients. 

 

3. Ensure that all jobs under his/her management are billed at appropriate stages and that the fees are followed up with the client and paid.

 

4. Appraise audit seniors on completion of engagements and help them to grow.

 

5. Train junior staff both on the job and by conducting lecture forms of training.

 

6. Manage relationships with clients effectively by identifying and communicating client needs to the relevant departments so that a solution may be offered to the client.

 

7. Analyze the performance of the audit department using indices such as efficiency, time recovery, cost overruns.

 

8. Be a technical support to partners and other managers helping in research and development.

 

9. Write articles, make presentations, or give interviews that enhance the standing of the firm as a thought leader.
