What’s been the highlight so far?

One of the significant highlights of my time with RSM Ireland so far is the opportunity for professional development. As a trainee accountant, I had a chance to learn and apply accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws to a real-life situation, which helped me build a strong foundation for my future career. This hands-on experience is invaluable for building skills and confidence in accounting.

Collaborating with colleagues and being part of a supportive team can create a positive work environment. Achieving team goals and working together to meet deadlines can be fulfilling.

Having a mentor can be a significant highlight, as it offers personalized guidance and insights.

What’s been your biggest challenge so far?

Preparing for and passing the professional ACCA exams while working full-time can be quite challenging. Trying to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines, which can be demanding.

Gaining proficiency in accounting software, data analysis tools, and spreadsheet applications is crucial. But the support provided from RSM on these challenges has been excellent.

What’s surprised you most about working at RSM?

Firms may vary in their approach to work-life balance, but RSM recognize the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life to prevent burnout and promote well-being.

I was surprised at how easily accessible directors and senior management were when I contacted them for advice.

What’s next for you at RSM?

After passing my professional exams recently, I am looking forward to becoming a senior member of staff within the outsourcing department.
 

I intend to grow within the company and look for new challenges that will enhance my skills in the near future.

What’s your top tip for someone looking to apply to RSM?

Most people will have similar CV’s, so yours should stand out and show some personality. Remember RSM is looking to recruit, so be yourself and when interviewed be positive and confident in your own ability.
