Karl McLaughlin

Consulting Director

Karl is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and has over 20 years experience in practice.  

His portfolio of clients includes company’s operating in software development, retail, wholesale, manufacturing and the investment sectors.

He also provides small and medium size companies with a virtual outsourced finance director service.  This involves working with clients to prepare projections and business plans while also meeting all of their compliance needs in a timely manner and ensuring management are provided with the information which will assist them in making key decisions.

Beginning his career as a trainee accountant with Lynch McEvoy Accountants from 1995 to 1998, Karl joined John Marks & Co in 1998, where he became a partner in 2005.  John Marks & Co merged with RSM Ireland in March 2017, where he is now Outsourcing Director  since 1 March 2017.

Significant projects

An example of some of the clients which Karl has worked with are:

• The owners of a French online classified advertising company which established a presence in Ireland which serviced markets in UK, Ireland and Northern Europe and which was eventually acquired by a Scandinavian Plc;
• An Irish software development start-up which was acquired by a French Plc for in excess of €50m; and
• The owners of an Irish retailer who adopted a full review of its operating cost base as part of a debt restructuring negotiation. 

Karl has also worked with a number of financial controllers in adopting new financial reporting standards (FRS 102) and implementing new accounts systems, advising them at key stages of these processes.
