New technologies have changed everything. Since the Industrial Revolution, there has been no transformation as significant as the one we are currently experiencing with the emergence of the Internet and the dawn of the Information Age. And it has not only changed the way we relate to each other, but also the way we work.

A digital nomad is someone who uses the Internet to carry out their professional activities, whether working as an employee, self-employed, or offering their expertise to individuals or companies. In other words, they work remotely, which allows them to lead a ‘nomadic life’, i.e. to live on the move.

The digital nomad licence grants residency to live in Spain while working for a company abroad using technologies that allow you to work remotely from within Spain.

 Who can apply?

Non-EU foreigners may apply for a residence permit for international teleworking in order to carry out an employment or professional activity at a distance for companies located outside the national territory, by means of the exclusive use of computer, telematic and telecommunication means and systems.

In the case of employment, the holder of the international remote work authorisation may only work for companies located outside the national territory.

In the case of exercising a professional activity, the holder of the international teleworking authorisation will be allowed to work for a company located in Spain, provided that the percentage of such work does not exceed 20% of his total professional activity.
