Firm reports 144% per cent increase in international referrals since joining RSM international network – with over 40% coming from UK

Accountancy and advisory firm RSM Ireland has been named RSM member firm of the year, beating off stiff competition from firms in more than 120 countries around the world.

The award, which was confirmed in Berlin at the RSM World Conference in October, was based on a number of criteria, including evidence of growth, innovative work practices and client service solutions, demonstrating a leadership role in regulations/professional practice, staff initiatives, and active membership in the international network.

Since joining the RSM international network just 18 months, RSM Ireland has reported a 144% increase in international referrals, with more than 40% of those coming from the UK as an increasing number of companies look to seek advice on doing business in Ireland post Brexit.

Overall, the firm’s client base has grown by 23% since May 2016 and it has experienced a 25% increase in fee income.

In February 2017 it merged with John Marks & Co., an accountancy practice based in Booterstown, bringing its staff number to 150 across its 3 offices in Dublin, Birr & Portlaoise – an overall increase of 25% since joining the network, with a further 25 positions to be filled in the next 6 months.

RSM Ireland, which has 12 partners and is led by founding and Managing Partner John Glennon, was recognised in the Awards in particular for leveraging the benefit of links with member firms in other countries, in particular the UK and the USA.

RSM Ireland is the 8th largest accounting and advisory firm in Ireland. With a headquarters in Ranelagh, it is considered a mid-market leader specialising in the areas of audit and assurance, tax, corporate restructuring, risk advisory, transaction support and outsourced accounting and compliance services.

Sectors in which it has experienced a notable surge in the last 18 months include Technology and Property and Construction.

The award for RSM Ireland comes just weeks after the RSM network was name the ‘Network of the Year’ at The Accountant and International Accounting Bulletin Awards. The Network of the Year Award criteria includes the demonstration of profitable growth strategies and recognition by the industry as a reputable brand that consistently delivers high quality professional services.

On an international level, RSM has performed very strongly over the last 12 months, reporting a 7.6% increase in fee income (from £4.87bn (£3.9bn) for the year ending 31 December 2016 with over 70% of RSM member firms reporting growth.

Commenting, Founding and Managing Partner of RSM Ireland John Glennon said; “Membership of the global RSM network has resulted in huge dividends for us as a company and for our clients. A global approach to business has never been so important and we are in touch with other member firms in other countries on a daily basis, particularly those in the UK and the US. We have experienced a 144% increase in international referrals since joining the network and we expect that trend to continue. Brexit is a contributory factor also obviously, and that’s reflected in the fact that more than 40% of the international referrals were from the UK.”
