BTRG is the 8th largest accountancy firm in Ireland and is headquartered in Dublin, with offices in Offaly & Laois.  The move to RSM Ireland – which takes effect from 3rd May further supports the firm’s vision to be the advisors of choice to growth focused organisations, both globally and here in Ireland. RSM has 38,500 staff in 120 countries, and an annual network fee income of US$4.6 billion.

RSM Ireland will remain wholly Irish owned and Founding and Managing Partner John Glennon will continue to lead the firm, into what he has described as an ‘exciting new era’, focused on building its base of Irish clients and further extending its global reach.

Since its formation in 1987, RSM Ireland has grown to be a mid-market leader with 12 partners and more than 120 staff. Due to an increasing demand for its services, it will be taking on 20 people this year and plans to expand its workforce by 50% over the next five years.

A sustained area of growth for the last number of years has been in the area of Foreign Direct Investment, with 50% of its new clients from the last two years coming under this category*. It is expected that the globally active network in RSM will result in a continued increase in international referrals for the firm, as well as providing clients with access to a broader range of global experts through trilateral agreements with RSM USA and RSM UK.  RSM Ireland now has dedicated Irish desks at the RSM offices in London and Chicago, and New York and San Francisco will be brought on stream by June 2016.

In addition to the opportunities that the enhanced global network will provide, the firm will continue to provide audit and assurance, tax, corporate restructuring, risk advisory, transaction support and outsourced accounting and compliance services to its clients, who are mainly in the property and construction, not-for-profit, education, pharmaceuticals, waste/green energy sectors and technology sectors.

John Glennon, Managing Partner of RSM Ireland said: “Ireland is one of the most globalised economies in the world, globalisation requires a globalised response. Membership in the dynamic global network of RSM will enable us to move forward into an exciting era of growth that will bring huge benefits to our firm, our clients, partners and staff. We already have a fantastic relationship with RSM’s UK and US firms and we are looking forward to working with other RSM firms around the world in delivering services to our ever expanding international client base. We plan to support clients with a local perspective combined with collective knowledge and resources of our global colleagues. All business is global now, and we are responding to that by teaming up with one of the global leaders in servicing the needs of mid-market businesses.

“Since we established in 1987, we have been recognised for our commitment to quality and value, and we have prided ourselves on building long-term, personal relationships with clients. We strive to work with our clients through the good times and the not so good times, always giving sound advice that we believe in, no matter what the prevailing trends. This will remain unchanged.  We believe that it is our values and beliefs that distinguish us. RSM’s new global brand, messaging and strategy resonates with our own, so the transition to this vibrant, forward-thinking network will be a seamless one,” he said.

Jean Stephens, CEO of RSM International, said: “It is critical that we have a strong firm in Ireland that can support our delivery of global client services, particularly with Ireland’s largest trading partners’ – the US and the European Union. However, it is equally important that firms are a seamless fit with our network and are fully aligned with our strategies and vision for the future. It is clear that the partners and staff of RSM Ireland share our common goal of building strong and collaborative relationships with clients, helping them make confident business decisions. I am delighted to welcome the partners and staff in Ireland to our network.
