The Opportunity

We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Outsourcing Associate to join our Business Process Outsourcing team at RSM (Eastern Africa) Consulting Ltd, Nairobi Office.

As an Outsourcing Associate you will be responsible for acquiring and applying technical skills to ensure accurate and timely completion of accounting activities, including payroll processing, VAT returns, statutory compliance, and general bookkeeping for clients while working collaboratively with the team, under the guidance of the Outsourcing Supervisor and/or Outsourcing Manager. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Process client payrolls accurately and send computations and journal entries to senior staff for approval.
  • Validate and reconcile VAT returns, resolving discrepancies before submission for review.
  • Notify clients of statutory dues and deadlines, file returns on time, and ensure timely payment remittance.
  • Post client accounting entries (e.g., invoices, payments, bank entries) into the designated software, ensuring compliance.
  • Ensure management accounts and journals are reviewed and approved before sharing with clients.
  • Visit client offices for bookkeeping when needed.
  • Coordinate messenger deliveries and maintain proper filing of accounting and payroll documents.
  • Perform  any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor and the firm.
     

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • 1–2 years of experience in accounting, payroll, or a related function (experience in a professional services or outsourcing environment is an added advantage)
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory compliance requirements, such as NSSF, SHIF, and PAYE.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and MS Excel.

Educational Background

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a business related field (Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Economics) from an accredited University
  • Must have completed professional certifications (CPA, ACCA or other similar certification)
