Our Cyprus practice is expanding its Financial Services Audit department and is seeking to recruit a high-calibre Audit Director with specialised experience in the financial services industry, including Funds, Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs), Payment Institutions, and FX companies.
Responsibilities:
Client & Engagement Management
Lead and oversee audit engagements for a portfolio of high-profile financial services clients, including:
- Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs)
- UCITS
- EMIs and Payment Institutions
- Forex and Brokerage Firms
Ensure compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA), IFRS, and local regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the main point of contact for senior management and boards.
Regulatory & Technical Expertise
Stay current with changes in:
- IFRS (particularly IFRS 9, 7, 13)
- EU directives (MiFID II, PSD2, AIFMD, UCITS, AMLD)
- CySEC and CBC regulations.
Provide clients with technical insights and value-added recommendations on internal controls, governance, and regulatory compliance.
Team Leadership & People Development
Supervise and mentor audit managers, assistant managers, and staff.
Lead performance reviews, training initiatives, and career development discussions.
Promote a culture of quality, ethics, and continuous improvement in audit execution.
Business Development
Participate in client proposals, presentations, and tender processes.
Identify cross-selling opportunities across assurance, tax, advisory, and risk services.
Contribute to the firm’s Financial Services strategy, thought leadership, and external visibility.
Internal Contribution
Participate in global network working groups, technical committees, and internal methodology development.
Support implementation of audit technology and digital tools (e.g., data analytics, automation).
Requirements:
Education & Certifications
- ACA / ACCA / CPA qualified (or equivalent).
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Experience
- 10+ years of audit experience, ideally in a Big 4 or Top 6 firm.
- At least 3–5 years in a leadership role managing audits of regulated financial services entities.
Technical Competencies
- Deep knowledge of IFRS and ISAs.
- Understanding of CySEC/CBC regulatory frameworks and reporting requirements.
- Familiarity with AML/CFT obligations for regulated firms.
- Experience with the audit of complex financial instruments and valuation models.
Languages
- Fluent in English and Greek (both verbal and written).
