Our client, a highly reputable company in the Technology and Automation Solutions Sector, based in Schimatari, is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for their group of companies, to enhance their leadership team.

Overview of the role

The CFO reports to the company’s CEO and is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial activities and operations of the organization and ensuring the financial health of the organization. He/ she will have a crucial role in advising the organisation’s management in making informed financial decisions and achieve its fiscal objectives and strategic planning.

Key activities and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Financial Strategy: Develop and execute the company's financial strategy in alignment with its overall business goals. Identify financial risks and propose strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the company's financial stability and compliance with regulations.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Being responsible for the financial planning in alignment with the company's strategies. Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks. Monitor variances, prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models to guide decision-making.
  • Financial Operations: Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, treasury, tax, and audit activities, to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Ensure strict compliance with Greek financial regulations, including tax laws and reporting requirements.
  • Capital Management: Manage the company's capital structure, including raising funds for expansion, working capital management, and investment decisions. Cultivate strong banking relationships and negotiate the execution of financial contracts to facilitate the company's growth and meet its financial objectives. Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and support ongoing operations, investments, and debt servicing. 
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and local financial regulations. Present financial information to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Compliance with Local Financial Regulations and IFRS: Stay up-to-date with and ensure strict adherence to all local financial regulations and reporting requirements as well as adherence to international accounting standards such as IFRS for financial reporting.
  • Collaboration with External Auditors: Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits, providing necessary documentation, explanations, and support to ensure a smooth audit process.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, guide and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional development.
  • Continuous Improvement and Financial Enhancement: Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the company's financial operations. Propose and implement strategies, process improvements, and cost-saving initiatives to optimize financial performance and efficiency.

Required Professional Experience & Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of accounting, business finance or other relevant experience (experience in an audit firm will be considered an asset) and ideally at least 2 years in a CFO role.
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
  • Familiarity with financial software and systems, including ERP systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Greek financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements, with a track record of ensuring adherence.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS.
  • Strong MS Office skills with advanced Excel spread sheet skills and analytical database experience.
  • Fluent English.
