Compliance Specialist

As a Compliance Specialist at RSM Greece, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing the organization's regulatory compliance procedures, policies and strategies. This role involves managing various compliance aspects, including Ethics and Independence policies, quality and other operating policies, client contracts, and communication with third parties (clients, member firms within the RSM global network etc). The Compliance Specialist collaborates with and reports to the Ethics & Independence Officer.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay abreast of changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the industry.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on our operations.
  • Support with the adoption and implementation of compliance programs and related policies in order to ensure adherence to profession related regulatory requirement, RSM network’s policies, professional standards etc (ethics, independence, AML, quality etc).
  • Support with the monitoring of the implementation of policies and procedures and conduct audits in order to ensure that all steps during the service provision are followed consistently are required.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to educate colleagues on various standards, policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in inspection procedures conducted by third-party entities.
  • Conduct internal compliance audits to assess the effectiveness of current policies and procedures.
  • Prepare regular compliance reports for senior management and support with the preparation of reports to third parties.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of documentation (reports, working files, internal documents etc) required for compliance audits, inspections, and reviews.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of compliance-related activities, ensuring accessibility and accuracy.
  • Address any findings or recommendations resulting from inspections, implementing corrective actions as needed whilst maintaining a proactive approach to continuous improvement based on insights gained from external inspections.
  • Support the Information Security Officer and the IT Manger with the company’s information security system as part of compliance with the ISO 27001.
  • Support with the completion of any client surveys related to our compliance and quality system.
  • Review and analyze client contracts to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks in cooperation with the legal team and service managers.
  • Work closely with Directors and Partners to ensure contractual obligations align with regulatory standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with member firms in the RSM global network.
  • Collaborate with international counterparts to share best practices and ensure consistent compliance standards across the organization.

Role Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in business, finance or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certification in internal audit / compliance is considered a plus. 

Experience: At least 4 years of previous experience in a compliance / internal audit role, preferably in the financial or professional services sector. Familiarity with international compliance standards and regulations would be considered a bonus.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Greek and English, to interact with internal teams, clients, and international stakeholders.

IT Literacy Skills: Easily adapt to new platforms and software, showcasing a flexible and technology-savvy approach to compliance tasks. Possess advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
