Manager, Accounting & Tax

Opportunity description

We are looking for an experienced and driven Manager, Accounting & Tax to join our Accounting & Tax Services team in Athens. In this role, you will lead multiple client engagements, oversee complex accounting and tax projects, and ensure the delivery of exceptional service while building and maintaining trusted client relationships.

As a key member of our team, you will combine strong technical expertise with leadership and project management skills, guiding teams and delivering tailored solutions that help clients navigate an evolving regulatory and business environment. More analytically:

  • Lead and manage accounting, tax compliance, and tax advisory engagements, ensuring full compliance with Greek GAAP, IFRS, and applicable tax legislation.
  • Oversee accounting operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
  • Review and approve financial statements and management reports prepared under Greek GAAP and IFRS.
  • Manage the implementation and optimization of accounting systems and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and submission of all tax obligations, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, withholding taxes, transfer pricing documentation, and other statutory filings.
  • Monitor developments in accounting standards and tax legislation, proactively advising clients on regulatory changes and their business implications.
  • Coordinate and support tax audits, acting as the primary point of contact with tax authorities and other regulatory bodies.
  • Take ownership of client engagements, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with RSM's quality standards.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients by delivering practical, value-added solutions and exceptional client service.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and evaluate a team of highly motivated professionals, fostering collaboration, engagement, and continuous professional development.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Consulting, Legal, Payroll, and other service lines to deliver integrated and client-focused solutions.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation, participate in client presentations, and actively support business development initiatives to expand the firm's client portfolio.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional experience in Accounting & Tax Advisory and/or Compliance services.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Greek GAAP.
  • Knowledge of IFRS; familiarity with US GAAP will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Advanced IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Accounting and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical thinking, presentation, and report-writing skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Commercial mindset, with the ability to identify business opportunities and build strong relationships with clients and senior stakeholders.
