Job title: Consultant

Office: Dublin

Joining date: 2017

Department: Consulting

Summary of role

I first joined RSM in April 2016 as a HR Assistant in the internal HR team, as part of my work placement in third year of college. Following the completion of my final year in college, I returned to RSM in October 2017 to work in the Consulting department. Following a number of years working across various service lines in the Consulting department as an Associate Consultant, I progressed to Consultant level, and now primarily work on the Forensic and Investigation Services team. My current client work ranges from working on Protected Disclosures and Workplace Investigations, to providing Employment Law and HR Advisory to both public and private sector clients. As the work in the Consulting department is extremely varied, no two days are the same, which is something I love about my job!

What’s been the highlight so far?

TI had the pleasure of attending a Volunteer Day with RSM’s CSR Partner, the Peter McVerry Trust, in their Residential Detox Centre. My colleagues and I worked alongside those staying in the Detox Centre, assisting with the maintenance of the centre and improving their facilities. This was a fantastic day and we all had such good fun with the residents and also got to spend time with the animals. It was an incredible day to be involved in.

What’s been your biggest challenge so far?

Previously, I was an intern in RSM Ireland during my third year of college and I worked on the internal HR team. My biggest challenge was the transition into the Consulting team and familiarising myself with the new role. I believe this was the right step for me to broaden my experience and opportunities and I am glad it has worked out so well.

What’s surprised you most about working at RSM?

The opportunities presented to me very early on in my career with RSM has enabled me to gain invaluable insight into the Consultancy world. The team is very dynamic, and I have been lucky enough to have worked on some very interesting client work as an Associate.

What’s next for you at RSM?

I am continuously learning here at RSM and each day brings a new challenge. At the moment I am thoroughly enjoying the various work opportunities that are provided to me in my role and I look forward to continuously progressing in my role in the Consulting department.

What’s your top tip for someone looking to apply to RSM?

Ensure you have practical examples relating to the competencies provided. Have questions prepared for the interview panel. Relax and don’t be afraid to show your personality!
