RSM, the seventh largest global network of independent audit, tax and advisory firms, has appointed Mike Kirley as Chairman of its international board of directors.

Mike Kirley is the Chief Operating Officer for RSM member firm, McGladrey, the fifth largest U.S. provider of assurance, tax and consulting services. Kirley also sits on McGladrey’s national leadership team, where he is responsible for implementing international growth strategies. Prior to serving McGladrey, Kirley worked as a business and tax adviser to manufacturers and financial institutions.

Jean Stephens, CEO for RSM, said: “The role of chairman is one that requires leadership, dedication and a commitment to driving forward the RSM network for the good of all member firms, and we are pleased to welcome Mike to this prestigious role.”

Kirley, who served as RSM interim chairman in 2007, commented: “I am delighted to be elected to chair the RSM Board of Directors at what is an exciting time in the network’s development, and I look forward to contributing to its growth across the world.”

Kirley replaces Brian Eaton who served as chairman since March 2009, and who will continue to serve on the Board as the representative from Africa. Kirley's two-year term as chairman is effective immediately.

In 2012, RSM added new member and correspondent firms in 16 countries across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America.
