RSM, the seventh largest network of independent audit, tax and advisory firms, celebrated its second RSM World Day on Thursday 12 September, following on from the award-wining success of last year’s inaugural event.

Last year, on 20 September, across the world RSM World Day was celebrated in 70 countries, bringing together the partners and staff from RSM member firms in these countries to focus on the network for the day and to learn and share the values behind RSM’s Connected for Success ethos.

Jean Stephens, CEO of RSM International comments: “The variety and scale of events and activities that took place last year was remarkable. I know how close our network is as I have worked with these firms for many years. But I was astounded at the levels of passion and enthusiasm shown on the day, the sheer variety of events and activities, and the wonderful show of different cultures and traditions – all in the name of RSM”.

And this year was no different. RSM member firms again took up the challenge, celebrating being a part of the network in their own way. Staff in 60 countries learned more about RSM and its shared values through teambuilding and staff events, advertising was placed in national and local media, and local charities benefited from member firms volunteering their time and expertise to lend a helping hand (download PDF below for examples and pictures).

Jean Stephens, CEO of RSM, comments: “In the busy business world we live in, a year can go by very quickly. Since last year, I have been looking forward to repeating our collective success of RSM World Day 2012. And yesterday, we did it again. I am very proud of all that took place across the network on RSM World Day 2013. It was a truly great day celebrating what we are all about - a closely connected global network with a reputation for building strong personal relationships and demonstrating true entrepreneurial insight and ideas in the manner in which we work with both clients and our colleagues across the world.”

Since RSM World Day 2012, the network has added new member firms and correspondents in Angola, Argentina, Bangladesh, Chad, Finland, France, Honduras, Isle of Man, Latvia, Nigeria, Palestine and Sweden, as well as significant firm mergers in Brazil and Argentina.

The network has also seen a steady increase in referral of work. Highlights of cross border work across RSM International’s network included:

  • Global audit work in 41 countries for a world-leading global agro-industry giant
  • Firms across 22 countries advised on the successful global expansion of one of the world’s leading franchises, headquartered in the US
  • Seven member firms in Europe advised on an international tax structuring project on behalf of two leading US private equity groups

RSM has shown its commitment to supporting commercial excellence and entrepreneurial brilliance by becoming the lead sponsor of the 2013/14 European Business Awards, strengthening its long-held association with this important business recognition programme.
