Mr. Charlie Jolly, Partner and Head of Private Equity, RSM UK, on the "Leader's Stage", presented The Private Equity Market Today and Opportunities Created.

While Mr. Marios Charalambides, Partner and Head of the Financial Services at RSM Cyprus, in his introduction before opening "The Operations/Regulation / Administration Stage", pointed out the importance of having from the beginning the proper setup, transparency and governance components appropriately designed, to protect investors and their needs.

The Investment Funds sector has shown steady growth in recent years. Cyprus is constantly progressing in this space, attracting more and more international investors.

The recent announcements of GMF and MUFG to establish a business base in Cyprus testify to the industry's progress.

As a keynote speaker, Mr. Charlie Jolly, Partner and Head of Private Equity, RSM UK, on the "Leader's Stage", highlighted a number of key facts for Private Equity Funds in today's challenging environment. Furthermore, he analysed how uncertainty affects the sector and the readjustment that takes place through the redistribution of funds. Also, he mentioned the opportunities to be exploited in the sector.

Furthermore, in his final remarks, he stated, "I believe that Private Equity adapts very quickly to changing economic environments. I think although we are facing very strong headwinds high, quality Private equity firms will continue to outperform markets and deliver strongly for their investors".     

Afterward, Marios Charalambides, Partner and Head of Financial Services at RSM Cyprus, in his introductory presentation for the opening of the "Operations/Regulation/Administration Stage", highlighted the importance of understanding the investors' needs from the various market stakeholders, which leads to proper planning and structuring of investment funds. Additionally, he explained the significance of the legislative framework and the need for a functional governance and transparency policy to support and protect the activities of the investment funds to protect the investors.

At the same time, the attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and listen to the opinions of acknowledged speakers and panel guests from organisations providing related activities, supervisory authorities, and European institutions.

The conference was held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus and the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA).

Ο τομέας των Επενδυτικών Ταμείων παρουσιάζει μια σταθερή ανάπτυξη τα τελευταία χρόνια.  Η Κύπρος φαίνεται να κερδίζει συνεχώς έδαφος στο τομέα αυτό, προσελκύοντας διεθνούς εμβέλειας επενδυτές. Τελευταία παράδειγμα αποτελούν οι πρόσφατες ανακοινώσεις από το GMF και MUFG. 

H RSM Cyprus, επίσημος Platinum Sponsor του 8ου International Funds Summit & Expo, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 7 και 8 Νοεμβρίου στη Λευκωσία, είχε ουσιαστική συμμετοχή με παρουσιάσεις σε δύο ενότητες.

Στην ενότητα «Leader’s Stage», με ομιλητή τον Charlie Jolly, Συνέταιρο και Επικεφαλή των Ιδιωτικών Επενδύσεων, RSM UK, επισήμανε κάποια σημαντικά δεδομένα που σκιαγραφούν τα Private Equity Funds.  Παράλληλα, στην ομιλία του ο κ. Jolly αναφέρθηκε στο πως η αβεβαιότητα επηρεάζει τον τομέα και την αναπροσαρμογή που γίνεται με την ανακατανομή των κεφαλαίων. Ταυτόχρονα έκανε αναφορά στις ευκαιρίες που υπάρχουν προς αξιοποίηση στον τομέα.  

Επιπλέον, ανάφερε: "Πιστεύω ότι τα ιδιωτικά μετοχικά κεφάλαια προσαρμόζονται πολύ γρήγορα στις οικονομικές μεταβολές. Νομίζω ότι παρόλο που αντιμετωπίζουμε πολύ ισχυρούς αντίθετους ανέμους, η υψηλής ποιότητας υπηρεσίες που προσφέρονται από τις εταιρείες διαχείρισης ιδιωτικών επενδύσεων θα συνεχίσουν να προσφέρουν τα θεμιτά αποτελέσματα στους επενδυτές τους, διατηρώντας τις πολύ καλές τους επιδόσεις στις αγορές".

Στη συνέχεια ο Μάριος Χαραλαμπίδης, Συνέταιρος και Επικεφαλής των Χρηματοοικονομικών Υπηρεσιών της RSM Cyprus, στην εισαγωγική του ομιλία πριν από το άνοιγμα του «Operations/ Regulation / Administration Stage» επεσήμανε ότι στην αρένα διαχείρισης περιουσιακών στοιχείων θα πρέπει πρωταρχικά να υπάρχει η σωστή κατανόηση των αναγκών των επενδυτών με απώτερο στόχο το σωστό σχεδιασμό και δημιουργία των επενδυτικών ταμείων. Η σωστή νομοθετική βάση, καθώς και διαφάνεια για να στηρίζονται και να προστατεύονται οι δραστηριότητες των εν λόγω επενδύσεων αποτελούν τους σημαντικότερους πυλώνες για τη λειτουργία του Επενδυτικού Ταμείου.  

Παράλληλα, οι παρευρισκόμενοι είχαν τη δυνατότητα να θέσουν τα ερωτήματα τους, και να ακούσουν τις απόψεις των διακεκριμένων ομιλητών και καλεσμένων των πάνελ που προέρχονταν από οργανισμούς παροχής συναφών δραστηριοτήτων, εποπτικών αρχών και ευρωπαϊκών θεσμών.   

Το συνέδριο τελούσε υπό την αιγίδα του Προέδρου της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας και της Επιτροπής Κεφαλαιαγοράς Κύπρου.
