What did you do before coming to RSM Eastern Africa?
Before joining RSM, I worked in the Finance department at a dairy processing factory. My responsibilities included preparing management accounts, supporting the budgeting process, and ensuring compliance with internal controls. Although it was a smaller organization, it taught me the importance of accuracy and discipline in financial reporting. I also learned to adapt quickly, since I often collaborated with colleagues across production and logistics to solve operational challenges. These experiences prepared me to step confidently into a larger, more structured professional services environment and laid the groundwork for my interest in broader advisory work.
What about this job and company appealed to you?
RSM’s reputation for professional excellence and integrity really stood out to me. I was drawn to the opportunity to work with diverse clients in different sectors, which I knew would accelerate my learning curve. When I joined as an Audit Associate, I appreciated the structured training and the exposure to various industries, from manufacturing to financial services. After nearly two years in audit, I transitioned into tax, which allowed me to explore more technical work while still collaborating with audit and advisory teams. The supportive culture, strong focus on professional development, and clear career pathways have kept me engaged and inspired to keep growing.
How would you explain to your friends and family what working here is like?
Working at RSM feels like being part of a community that expects high standards but also genuinely wants you to succeed. The work is fast-paced, and no two days are the same. Whether I am preparing a tax opinion, meeting with clients, or coaching junior team members, there is always something new to learn. Even when projects are complex, there is a sense of shared purpose and mutual support. People take time to teach and guide you, and achievements are celebrated, big or small. It is a place where you are encouraged to challenge yourself and know you have a team behind you.
What RSM value resonates most with you and why?
Succeeding Together is the value that resonates most with me because it reflects the spirit of collaboration that makes RSM special. I have experienced this in countless ways. From colleagues taking the time to explain a complex technical point, to managers providing constructive feedback that helps me grow. During challenging deadlines or demanding engagements, it is always teamwork that makes the difference. Even outside client work, whether we are planning CSR activities or hiking as a team, the same supportive attitude comes through. It reminds me that professional success is not a solo journey; it is built on trust, shared effort, and collective commitment.
What are you looking forward to doing in this role?
In this role, I aim to grow into a trusted tax advisor known for technical excellence and clear communication, and to build lasting partnerships with clients by consistently delivering value.
Who are you outside RSM?
Outside work, I am an avid hiker and solo traveller. Spending time outdoors helps me recharge, reflect, and stay grounded. I have organized team hikes to various destinations, including Mount Satima, the highest peak in the Aberdare. Just last weekend, I summited Table Mountain, and in two weeks, I am heading to Mackinder’s Camp as part of my preparation for Mount Kenya, a climb that has been on my bucket list for years. I love the sense of accomplishment that comes with each summit. Beyond hiking, I also enjoy exploring towns across Kenya and East Africa and experiencing different cultures and cuisines. Whether I am hiking or traveling, I find inspiration in the journey and the stories along the way.

A fun fact about me is that I am on a personal mission to hike every major mountain in East Africa before I turn 30. It is a goal that keeps me motivated to stay active, plan new adventures, and push past my comfort zone whenever I can. Every climb teaches me resilience, patience, and the importance of celebrating each milestone. These are the qualities that also spill over into my professional life.
