Our chat with Kerryn Newton – Chief Executive Officer, Directors Australia
Kerryn Newton, Chief Executive Officer of Directors Australia and Non-Executive Director of Energy Queensland joined Steve Healey in this segment of RSM’s Coffee Conversation series.
In their chat, Kerryn provides an overview of Directors Australia, a Brisbane based boutique consultancy firm that “lives and breathes” boards and works with organisations to achieve the highest standards of corporate governance. In her role, Kerryn advises a wide range of businesses on how to improve board and organisational performance through strategy, board and governance structures, board composition, and governance systems and practices.
Normally, Kerryn’s role would see her travelling on a plane out of Brisbane on a weekly basis, which of course came to a holt in mid-March 2020 due to travel restrictions imposed to prevent further spread of COVID-19. Whilst leading an organisation already equipped to work remotely without interruption, it was the immediate stop to ‘face to face’ meetings with various Boards that played a bigger challenge, especially seeing many of Kerryn’s clients ‘retreating into their own organisations’ during this period.
