Dean Stevens

Dean Stevens is a Consultant RSM New Zealand's Auckland office with extensive experience in accounting, taxation, business advisory and valuation services.

Drawing on both commercial and public practice experience, Dean works with a diverse range of clients, from not-for-profit organisations and local government public benefit entities through to multinational commercial businesses. His practical approach, combined with strong financial and commercial expertise, enables him to provide advice that helps clients make informed decisions and achieve their long-term goals.

Dean is passionate about working alongside business owners, leaders and organisations that are making a meaningful impact, helping them navigate challenges and unlock opportunities for growth. 

Experience

Having grown up on a dairy farm, Dean's early interest in business and finance led him to begin his career with the Rural Bank and Finance Corporation following university.

After gaining international experience overseas, he returned to New Zealand and spent ten years with a large multinational organisation, holding a number of accounting and finance roles before progressing to Financial Controller. This commercial experience provided valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities faced by businesses and continues to shape his advisory approach today.

Dean later moved into public practice, where he found his commercial background enabled him to better understand the needs of clients and provide practical, business-focused solutions.

Outside of work, Dean is a keen sports enthusiast. Having previously been an avid soccer player, he now enjoys supporting his two sons in their sporting pursuits. He also regularly participates in triathlons, cycling events and ocean swimming competitions.
