Emma Richards leads RSM New Zealand’s R&D Tax Services practice from the Highbrook office, helping innovative businesses access and optimise government incentives — with a focus on the R&D Tax Incentive regime.
With over 25 years in tax and 16 years in innovation, Emma brings deep technical expertise and a collaborative, hands-on approach. Her background as a UK HMRC R&D Unit Inspector and her work across IT, construction, biotech, and food technologies give her a unique perspective on what makes a strong, defensible claim.
Experience
Emma has held a Director level role at an NZ Big 4 firm and senior roles in UK boutique firms. Sher now leads RSM NZ’s national R&D Tax Incentive practice and works with RSM’s Global Incentives Group to support clients with international R&D footprints.
