Assistant Manager: Strategic Support

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Assistant Manager: Strategic Support to join our Johannesburg team. The Assistant Manager: Strategic Support plays a critical role in enabling the Head of Assurance to deliver on strategic priorities. This role provides high-level support in driving the execution of the assurance strategy, coordinating key initiatives, and ensuring operational alignment across the function. It combines elements of strategic project coordination, business development support, and professional assistance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Execution & Transformation

  • Support the Head of Assurance in the execution of strategic priorities including digital audit, quality, talent, and growth.
  • Assist in building and managing a robust reporting framework (KPI’s, dashboards, scorecards).
  • Support implementation of the audit transformation roadmap and key business cases.

Business Growth & Market Development

  • Support the Head of Assurance and Growth Office in revenue growth planning and campaign execution.
  • Working with the Growth Leader run clients’ engagements and proposals from the desk of the Head of Assurance.
  • Track new business wins, pipeline, and cross-selling.
  • Coordinate assurance sector strategy and growth opportunities.
  • Facilitate strategic alliance and international referrals.

Leadership Enablement & Partner Engagement

  • Prepare Exco-level and partner reports.
  • Monthly WIP Management including reporting, provisions, collections and follow-up.
  • Plan and manage leadership sessions and town halls.
  • Act as proxy in selected committees and forums.

Client, Industry & Regulator Engagement

  • Represent RSM in industry forums and regulatory discussions.
  • In conjunction with the Growth team run the operations of the industry and client programmes.
  • Support Head of Assurance on all client engagement.
  • Coordinate operations across Talent, Risk, Technical and Marketing.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Strategic initiatives implemented on time and within scope.
  • Business development targets supported (pipeline, cross-sell, win-rate).
  • Increase in visibility and engagement in industry and regulatory forums.
  • Audit quality and transformation milestones met.
  • Partner/stakeholder satisfaction and execution of leadership directive.
  • Timely reporting and insight delivery to EXCO Assurance leadership.

Qualification and experience

  • B Com Accounting & Honours, completed articles, 4+ years in audit, consulting, strategy, or operations.
  • Business development or growth – related experience.
  • Exposure to industry or regulatory engagement advantageous.
