Junior B-BBEE Consultant

We are currently looking for a Junior B-BBEE Consultant for our Johannesburg office. This role reports to the B-BBEE Director (Jackie Kitching) and the Legal Director (Liz Pinnock) This is a client-facing role that provides crucial support to both our clients and our senior consultants, in navigating and complying with  B-BBEE legislation in South Africa.

This position involves collaborating closely with clients to assess their current B-BBEE status, providing strategic advice on improvement, and assisting in the implementation of B-BBEE initiatives. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of B-BBEE codes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with clients to achieve their transformation goals.

Role and responsibilities

  • Engage with clients to understand their business operations and objectives.
  • Analysis and capture of client information to assess current B-BBEE compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assist clients in collecting and preparing the necessary documentation for B-BBEE verification.
  • Review of the documentation for compliance prior to verification.
  • Identify opportunities for skills development, enterprise development, and socio-economic development initiatives.
  • Draft B-BBEE strategy progress reports and action plans.
  • Ensure all aspects of the technical work is checked and verified before feedback to client.
  • Assist and support clients in preparing for B-BBEE verification.
  • Address any queries raised during the verification process and address any challenges that may arise.
  • Assist with research on the latest B-BBEE developments.
  • Writing articles on B-BBEE and related subject matter
  • Regularly communicate with clients with respect to changes in the B-BBEE landscape. (legislation and best practices)
  • Building and maintaining relationships with relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to verification agencies and government bodies.

Qualifications and experience

  • 2+ years' experience in B-BBEE Consulting
  • Working experience for B-BBEE Consulting Agencies and/or SANAS Accredited Verification agencies is an advantage.
  • B.Com preferable and/or a Degree in Human Resources Management. 
  • Attendance at relevant B-BBEE courses and seminars and on the job training. 
  • Completion of the B-BBEE Management Development Programme is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of B-BBEE legislation, Codes of Good Practice including Sector Codes and industry practices.
